COVID SAFE PROCEDURES IN OUR CLINIC

As a healthcare provider, it is my priority to provide a safe environment for all my clients. While all risk cannot be eliminated, below are some procedures to reduce the risk within my clinic.
PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING CHANGES TO TREATMENT PROCEDURES TO ALLOW FOR A COVID SAFE CLINIC
1. Due to customer restrictions in the shop, I am asking all clients to wait outside of the shop or in their car and I will text you when I am ready for you to come in to your appointment. If you are planning on purchasing items from Health Food Thyme, then of course you are welcome to stay in the shop
2. Only the person being treated is to attend the appointment (no children or extras please). If the appointment is for a child under 16years, we require a parent/guardian to be present at the treatment. An extra person is allowed if a translator is required
3. Upon entering the store, please sanitise your hands using the sanitiser provided. There will also be sanitiser available in the clinic room.
4. I will no longer be offering water from glasses after a treatment—please bring a water bottle with you
5. At the beginning of each appointment a number of screening questions must be asked. If you are feeling unwell—even minor symptoms, have travelled or have come in contact with anyone who has been diagnosed with COVID-19, I ask that you cancel your appointment and rebook at a later date. For common curtesy, I ask that you give as much notice as possible when cancelling to allow time for the spot to be filled. All 'no show' appointments without notice will require full payment.
6. A mask must be worn at all times during the treatment unless you have a medical exemption.
7. The window will remain open during treatments to allow fresh air into the clinic room
8. I will, of course be following strict infection control guidelines as set out by the Health Department of Victoria. This includes full linen change between clients, sanitisation of high traffic areas, as well as the treatment table, especially around the face hole. The toilet will remain available for client use if requested, however, as after each use the toilet will be disinfected, please factor this into your session time and consider using the bathroom before attending your treatment if possible.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is Bowen Therapy?
Bowen Therapy is a holistic therapy which addresses a body's structure (eg. posture, bad neck/back) as well as internal 'operating systems' (lymphatics, respiratory) and general well being (energy levels, anxiety). Using receptor points in the body, your bowen therapist gently rolls over the muscle/tendon/joint to allow the body to focus on the area of stress. Messages are then sent through the nervous system and fascial system to assess the region of concern and start to correct the dysfunction. This may sound far fetched, however our bodies are made with amazing healing abilities (think about a cut healing), and bowen therapy helps to improve this function within our bodies.
Who can be treated with Bowen Therapy?
Bowen Therapy is a very safe and gentle therapy with no forceful moves, making it safe for everyone, from newborn babies, to pregnant ladies and the elderly, as well as those with chronic pain.
How long is a typical Bowen Therapy session?
Treatments can last approx 15 minutes (often for babies and small children), up to 1 hour for adults, and generally take place over seven-day intervals. Please note that treatment times do vary according to your needs, as we tailor each session to suit each individual.
What should I wear to a Bowen Therapy session?
It is preferable to work directly on skin, and you will be draped for modesty and warmth. However, if you do wish to stay clothed, it is best to wear cotton leggings, yoga-type cotton (not synthetic) pants or cotton shorts and a light t-shirt or singlet. You will be asked to remove any heavy clothing such as thick jumpers, denim or corduroy, so please bear this in mind if you would prefer to remain clothed.
I have just sustained a sporting injury, am I still able to be treated?
If your body has sustained an injury, it is ideal to have a Bowen therapy treatment as soon as possible (preferably within 3 days), to help overcome the trauma before your body starts to compensate for it. Often the compensation for an injury causes more problems than the initial trauma! Please let us know when making your booking that you have sustained an injury and we will do our best to find an appointment for you.
Can a Bowen Therapist diagnose my condition?
Bowen therapist cannot diagnose conditions, and shouldn’t replace medical advice from a trained doctor. In some cases, you may be referred back to your doctor for further investigation and testing.
Why do you need to take a detailed client history?
Giving us as much information about your health as possible is important as it helps us form the treatment plan for you. We value your feedback, so please always tell us if there’s something you like or do not like about our services. Always keep us up to date with any health changes that have occurred as this information is all part of the jigsaw puzzle that makes up our health journey.
I would like to book a time for my child, however, some information is sensitive and I do not want to have the discussion in front of her. Can I call you to prior to the treatment to discuss the issue?
If your child has a sensitive issue that you would like treated, such as anxiety or bed wetting, please let us know, and we will happily schedule a phone appointment prior to your treatment to discuss the client history. Often discussing these issues in front of the child can cause embarrassment and further stress or anxiety for them.
